yeah, but i mean the hole size plus room for expansion for solid flooring.
the question states a 15mm pipe.

    pipe size irrelevant.

The size left around the pipe depends on the size of expansion needed for the area the flooring is being laid in. Also the species being installed will add to the amount of expansion needed allowing with what type of method of installation is being used along with the direction of the wood flooring . Do we have field expansion in place also?

Or if you was going to go off manufactures instructions it could vary also. Lets say the manufacturer says you need to leave 12mm around the perimeter of the room then it would mean around the pipe also.

What exam is this your doing ? Not a NICF one is it ?

So your answer is = "The size left around the pipe depends on the size of expansion needed for the area the flooring is being laid in. Also the species being installed will add to the amount of expansion needed allowing with what type of method of installation is being used along with the direction of the wood flooring"

so a pipe being 15mm, the hole will need to be 27mm

Actually it would need to be 39mm as the 12 mm expansion is both sides the pipe + teh pipe.

    So 12mm + 15mm + 12mm.

That is to manufactures instructions that are different on most products This i only a example

The question above tho really has to many variables to give a exact size. There is other stuff that can be added in also like which way the flooring was nailed V the pipes.

    To many variables.

Make sence then, i would like them to make the question more simple tho. Simply as the question they ask will result in a 5000 word answer.

The answer is also relevant to whether the pipe is located exactly dead centre of the hole.
