Talking to the customer in the bedroom while joining the carpet, he asked if I liked the staircase he designed himself, solid oak he says, £40,000 altogether . Yes it's great says I . And as I finish the sentence we hear from the gantry landing BANG CLATTER BUMPH. My mate in his wisdom had placed a hammer stapler on top of the divan base we put out on the landing, and knocked it so the stapler rolled off and dropped 12 feet onto the steps below, badly damaging 3 steps:stupid.. Words cannot express ......I'm hoping my public liability will cover this anyone had any experience on claiming

Thats what public liability is for, so it should cover 'YOU'.

id be suprised if your covered tbh
They have a habit of getting out of paying anything
    Pretty sure negligence isnt covered

Get a French polished in, cheaper than changing the staircase

They have paid out when I caused some damage.
Whats the point, if they don`t.
Your always going to be negligent, no ?

Like the quote above make sure you tell the insurance you were on the job alone and you accidentally damaged the stairs if your helper isn't on your insurance, don't even tell them that you have the helper for moving furniture etc or they won't pay the insurance is void, I've just found out recently!
