since we are on the subject of durafit, does it not pee you right off when you have an uplift of durafit, only to find that some tool has pernamently bonded the underlay with f3. It comes up in 1inch pieces. By the time youve got it up your ready to go home.

Yeah same here, seam seal if selvedge removed and stick direct to underlay or subfloor, Thought i would ask just incase there was a good reason to heat seam. cheers

If you heatseam then would you not see the "seam run" protrude high!?.

Yeah would think so, the area i lifted was about 7m * 5m, 3' strips and heat seamed every join. Must have been a sh*t load of tape.

do you see a seam on a stretch fit?

Open question here everyone, not trying to catch anyone out but bladerunner has a point here.

If the carpet is thin then sometimes in the natural light the seam shows on stretch fit. You leave the job late in the evening thinking its the best join ever and when you get back the next day you can see it. Saying that sometimes they are impossible to see, especially the loop piles. I havent had any problems with the joins showing through on double stick jobs but they have been in areas where there is no natural light?

yeah, like merit says you sometimes see the join on super thin carpets when there is a lot of natural light. Is there a cure?

Lets go back to the carpet as "fully stuckdown. Then the taped seam may/may not be seen(being forced down),whereas when its floating then you will not see the tape showing thru especially on the better quality carpets.
