What is the sub floor ? Was it concrete ? Did it have old adhesive on the floor ? Was it plywood ?

I’d cut them then screw the floorboards to the joists. 40mm screws. Then plywood screw or ring nail it down.
Yes but a pain of a job. We used a multi tool. Watch pipes and wires though
Because it was breathing and loose. The ply will tighten it all up. I hate T&G floorboards. Had loads of hassle with them.
