I need a cheap but fairly decent carpet for a care home communal hallway will be 5 m width any suggestions. As I don't really fit carpet anymore also need an underlay that will be suitable was thinking cloud 9 contract and its going on gripper. I'm assuming a twist with polypropylene. Will start twist by lano be ok? Or is there a better one at a better price?just asking as I don't do care homes and this is my first.

if you're looking for a poly twist in 5m wide then lano heather twist supreme is another option for you
Care home and a hallway, think you will need something better than that. How about scala solutions. Heavy contract.
Jhs, prob hospi-twist or heathers, not sure if they're 5m but will join up brill anyway, superb carpets for care homes.
You have a few choices , Gradus Minerva, Marlings highgrove, Jhs, Wollf, they are all made by a factory in Switzerland I think , can't remember the name , they all look the same or similar patterns , inert polypropylene fibre so won't take a stain, impervious backing with a blown PVC,good for general care home if on a budget, around 12 to 13 squid, Some of the new flotex ranges are worth a look if your budget is a little higher, they do a wood effect flotex which does look really good down and very easy to clean,
Whatever you use, keep it away from the joins. I was taught (rightly or wrongly) that the joins should be stuck with 2 strips of ds tape, 1 either side of the join with a 2mm gap between each strip. If you don't leave the 2mm gap then eventually adhesive residues will seep up in the join leaving a dirty line. Apart from that, Flotex is overpriced rubbish imo.
Might be wrongly, lol I have always stuck it all over on the contract side, domestic might be ok to ds tape but it would rip very easily, the old patterns and colours did look dated but some of the new ones look good and it does clean easy and hardwearing, its weird how its made, with the fibres being magnified charged and then made to stand up with a magnet, like iron fillings, thats how they get the fibres so close together, how sad am I, lol, not the fact that i know it , its the fact i am quoting it,
I thought it was naff kitchen flooring for grandma until we fitted some in a school reception and it actually looked really good. Apparently really easy to clean and looks a bit nicer than a vinyl floor
