Quantum came to site last week, to measure for nosings.
There are loads, but they were done in no time.
The guy used a laser tape to measure each tread, which bluetoothed the measure to his phone, which compiled them into a list.
When he finished measuring, the list was e-mailed to head office.
    Simples !

They should turn up tomorrow, let`s see if they fit.

Think that would be one of the Leica measures

All very clever, but none of them fit.
Every one is 2-3mm over size.
There are 250 on this staircase, anyone got some spare hacksaw blades lol

    Yes not good at all.
I asked the guy i`m working for if he wanted them cut, or send em back.
I`m cutting, Quantum are paying, I think.
I got a chopsaw, so not the end of the world. Just a pain in the arse.

Morleys are the worst for that, hand on heart never had a precut nosing fit from them, and ive done a boatload over the years only reason they were used was it was cheaper than gradus and the firm I subbed too were stingy.

I would normally measure myself, but the guy i`m working for, did n`t want me wasting my time on it.
Now it`s gonna take even longer

The reason they don't fit is because you cannot measure stairs with a laser as the red dot will usually be slightly higher than where the nosing will sit hence mm's out. Could happen either way bigger or shorter depending on which way thr stringer is leaning... ooops

Hmm, it`s a pre formed steel staircase, and all the measurements are 2-3mm over.
    The staircase is dead square.
Quantum say this is how they are all measured now. If it never works, they will be facing some heavy counter charges.

Didn't say it will never work just saying that unless you are very accurate where you point it, it's usually out by a couple of mm..
Preformed staircase, as you say so if it's how they are measured now what's the point in having them out to measure..
If the staircase is dead square then just measure only one of them as the rest will be the same.........

Over the 250 stairs, there is only 3mm difference from top to bottom, so it`s pretty straight.
I did n`t ask them to measure, the guy i`m working for did.
To be honest they could have measured the top, and bottom, and just gone with it.
    It would have been better.

all the firms are the same. Last time i used gradus, guy comes out with his tool to measure, does all the stairs so quickly. Then i get delivery and they are all in a mess, none are numbered so i have to go through sorting them all out, then loads of them dont fit so wasted time cutting them down. Not the first time either
