    Hello,

I have just bought a new build home which came with chipboard subfloors.

The chipboard has been levelled properly and I cannot find any variations greater than 2mm on the chipboard.

I am looking at getting Amtico Clicksmart installed and different installers have given me conflicting advice and I am unsure what would be the best course of action.

After going through the forum, and amtico product information, I understand that the glue down LVT should not be put down straight on to a chipboard subfloor.

Does this hold true for Click LVT as well? I cannot find a conclusive answer and one local flooring company said that the floor does not need further preparation, but another installer advised nailing in 6mm SP101 plywood over the chipboard before laying click LVT.

Does Click LVT have the same risks due to warping and moisture affecting chipboard, similar to the glue down ones?

I would highly appreciate any advice.

Is the chipboard screwed/fixed down or floated? Putting sp101 beneath clic is a bit over the top
But a good quality ply would improve the subfloor unless it’s perfect. Don’t see many perfect subfloors

The chip board is screwed and surprisingly well levelled! It’s by no means perfect, but the flooring guy who came to give me a quote felt that it was good to go.

If the chipboards been done well I don’t see the need for ply. It will give a bit of added protection against the chipboard joins moving and swelling which they tend to do more so than ply
