Hello, I'm really not an expert and I'm trying to get knowledge on the subject, as I need to replace my old laminate. At first I was suggested to put laminate, which they told me can be placed on top of the old floor, does this make sense or not? Cause the laminate that i've chosen has a thickness of 12mm so this would create issues with the doors and gaps. This has been suggested because adding on top is cheaper than replacing the old one. I understood that it makes more sense to remove the previous one, but then I have been told to use the parquet, if the previous one will be removed, as there will be enough depth and the parquet it is a better product. I have been also suggested to use vinyl flooring , but i have been told the quality is pretty bad? compared to laminate and of course parquet... I'm adding image of the vanilla floor which needs to be replaced. Please any input is welcome, a checklist of things to check, and how to assess the right person to do the job? many thanks in advance! Alex
Also, if on a second stage i will want to remove also the dark tiles part, it won't be any issue right?
So much seems wrong there. Firstly never fit on top of old flooring. It needs to come up and the subfloor properly assessed before installing any new floor covering. Secondly, which Parquet are they recommending. This is generally a style or design of floor so may or may not be better depending on which one they are saying. There are some on here with a far better knowledge than me for products. Third. Again which vinyl. Some are worse and some are better. Honestly it sounds like you need to talk to a better flooring company…
Rip it all up and then assess the floor underneath..... this will then guide you which floor you can have. Obviously laminates can float on top of various sub floors but I certainly wouldn’t lay on top of the laminate. Laminate can hide problems under it but never seen laminate laid on top of another laminate in 20 years
