Bloke rang me asking for a fitter so I arranged to meet him at the place where he had got the job to have a look and when I got there he was a gypo who had some rolls of safety flooring on his van and had obviously been going round trying to sell it but couldn't fit it himself.

I measured it and was 30m2 (he said 20m) with about 10m of weld which he didn't have and has no glue so I need to supply glue matching weld and do the fitting but really don't know wether to do the job or not.

Also it's a concrete floor that needs screeding but he wants me to fit straight to the concrete floor.

What would you guys do ?

Smells bad altogether. If you can't prep it properly it'll turn out badly and we all know who'll get the blame and probably not get paid. I would walk away

Don't sound too good to me, I wouldn't leave that job without the cash in my hand, preferably before I even started!

working for a gypo is not a great start. More than likely you will do the job and not get paid. I wouldnt touch that even if i had no work.

Thanks for the help guys, I've decided I'm not going to do the job ill ring him and say I can't because I'm ill or something.

Thing is his wife rang me first and asked if I'd ring him, she sounded like a gypo so straight away I was unsure. I live in a town that has a big gypsy community and I know exactly how they work and what there like and the person who he's sold the vinyl to is actually a friend of my dads so it could quite easily come back on me if it goes wrong.

it would be cash in my pocket but I'd rather not have the money if it means I have to fit it wrong as it could quite easily cost me my reputation, Nathan king dodgy fitter who works with dodgy gypsies is not a good message to send out

J&W Carpets up here in Scotland is owned by gypo brothers, I have known them for over 15 years multimillionaires but some of the stories from the early days of them starting out

Heard a story about one of the brothers from J & W who bought some land and built a huge house on it maybee about 10 years ago but couldnt live in it and stayed in his caravan on the grounds instead for a few years.

Yeah I'm not doing it I even thought about ringing the person who was having the work done and tell him why I'm not turning up and that he shouldn't have it done
